Background

The Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) was officially established on November 1, 2003, by Royal Decree of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The newly-established name of the centre comes with a pun in its acronym, SACICT (pronounced sak-sith), which is a Thai word for "sacred".

SACICT's main objectives are to support and promote the market for Thai arts and crafts market domestically and internationally; to serve as a common ground for producers, importers and exporters to meet and negotiate; and to supervise ,and protect and provide legal advice on the copyright, patents and intellectual property, as well as the to give legal advice and award standard certification for Thailand's artistic and handicraft goods.
